Sadly, the power-pop visionary Alex Chilton of Big Star passed away at 59 this Tuesday. In his memory, I have attached his serene 1972 acoustic song “Thirteen.” Rated the #396th best song of all time, it has been covered by artists ranging from Wilco to Elliot Smith to Garbage. ”Thirteen” will inspire you to pick up your guitar and cover it yourself.
