Thanks all DJs and listeners for taking your time to listen to our awesome station! I hope everyone having a great break away from the hill as you enjoy liberation from the Commons/McEwen eating establishments (miss u diner).
I deleted the Kool Thing music video post since it annoyingly started playing and popped up every time you opened this page. As a replacement, I want to share with you some old school tunes especially good for vegging out. Think of this as a pod-list for the guilty/nostalgic pleasures that P-fork doesn’t like or even review. Bask in the glory of distortion, pre-Kanye hip-hop and cheesy drums:
Breakout- Foo Fighters. ”You know you make me breakout.” - Sounded rebellious to this 9 year old.
History of A Boring Town- Less Than Jake. This song was very topical in 7th grade when leaving your small town via college seems a lifetime away. Really terrible emo bands would blatantly rip off this 1998 song’s vibes tastelessly in about 5 years.
Linoleum- NOFX. “That’s me, on the beachside combing the sand, metal meter in my hand, sporting a bucket full of change.” You know how I’ll be spending my break…
Zip-Lock - LIT. Does anyone else remember watching the music video to this song on TRL?
Raise Up (North Carolina Dirty) - Petey Pablo. I have yet to be to North Carolina, but I have always imagined that if I do, people will be singing this in the streets.
Santeria - Sublime. I don’t particularly even like this song, but it epitomized being 14 - at least in my town. It is also very ‘spring break.’
Rubber Band Man - T.I. - “Rubber band man, wild as the Taliban.”
Invisible Touch - Phil Collins - I grew up with both parents listening to classic rock in the car, so I don’t know if I first heard this at age 0, 1, or 2 but I’m pretty sure it’s one of those. This song will make you happy.
Rock and Roll Band- Boston - This song is for everyone who summers in an Northeastern beach town. I happen to live in one…
“Playin for a week in Rhode Island
A man came to the stage one night
He smoked a big cigar
Drove a cadillac car
And said, boys, I think this bands outta-sight
Sign a record company contract
You know Ive got great expectations
When I hear you on the car radio
Youre goin to be a sensation!”
Oh yeah, I agree with L. Kang about the great new Titus Andronicus CD!
Henry - GM
